Bio

Corry Ammerlaan-van Niekerk (Alphen aan den Rijn, 1947) is a Dutch sculptor and painter. Ammerlaan was trained at the teacher training college and initially worked as a teacher. Later, she developed into an artist. The human figure is central to her work, often in an abstracted form. She creates works for public spaces, but also small sculptures, such as annual figurines for the CliniClowns (2002, 2003) or figurines for the business community. She signs with her initials: CAN. In addition to being a performing artist, Ammerlaan is also the artistic director at the Artihove art center.
