Raf Verjans

Bio

Raf Verjans (Tongeren, May 12, 1935 – January 27, 2022) was a Belgian sculptor and goldsmith. He spent his higher studies in goldsmithing at the art school in Maredsous (1949-1956). There he attended school alongside other well-known artists such as Felix Roulin, Jean William, Emile Souply, etc. After his training, he went on a trip abroad. During this period, he stayed in Athens for three months, among other places. He then returned to Western Europe to do an internship at a goldsmith’s workshop in Maastricht. Here, Verjans perfected his skills. From 1958, he started working as an independent sculptor and goldsmith.
